Description

Delicious banana bars topped with creamy caramel frosting!


Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract and mashed bananas until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in sour cream for extra moisture.
  7. Spread batter in prepared dish and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool completely before frosting.
  9. For the frosting, beat softened butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar gradually.
  10. Stir in caramel sauce and beat until smooth and fluffy. Add milk if needed for consistency.
  11. Spread frosting on cooled bars and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
