Description
A delicious garlic naan that is fluffy and flavorful, perfect for accompanying your favorite dishes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup Warm water
- 1 teaspoon Active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 cup Plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
- 3 cloves Fresh garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Chopped cilantro or parsley
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, and yogurt. Slowly add warm water until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough gently and divide it into equal portions. Roll each piece into a ball and let them rest for another 15 minutes.
- On a floured surface, take a ball of dough and roll it out into a teardrop or oval shape, about ¼ inch thick.
- Preheat a cast iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until it’s hot but not smoking.
- Place one rolled-out naan in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles form on top. Flip and cook for an additional minute until golden brown.
- In a small bowl, melt butter and mix in minced garlic. After cooking each naan, brush it generously with this mixture while it’s still warm.
Notes
- Ensure the yeast is fresh for best results.
- The resting time is crucial for achieving the perfect texture.
- Feel free to add more herbs to enhance flavor.
