A delicious and hearty casserole with ground beef, cheese, and colorful vegetables!

- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup white onion (diced)
- 1 cup red bell pepper (diced)
- 1 cup green bell pepper (diced)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- In a large bowl add the flour, baking powder, salt, milk, butter, and egg and whisk it together, then fold in the shredded cheese until combined. Set aside.
- Heat a large 12 inch oven safe skillet on medium high heat add the ground beef, onion, and bell peppers and cook until browned. Drain any extra fat.
- Add in the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, salt, red pepper flakes, tomato sauce, and ketchup. Simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
- You can pour the meat mixture into a 9×13 baking dish if you don’t have an oven safe skillet. Dollop the biscuit evenly over the top spreading it out as best you can.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. Serve!
Notes
- This casserole can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
- You can swap in different types of cheese if cheddar isn’t your favorite.
